The Shaykh : ... .
The student : He has fulfilled his role and it is over.
The Shaykh : But the stage, as if with its silent tongue, said to him, “Look at me.” He did not pay attention to it at first. In the end, he reached out his hand to it, and lo, it was heavy and weighty. He took it home, broke it open, and the dinars collapsed before him. He was amazed, but it was not long before the debtor arrived. Here the sincerity of each of them was revealed, and as they say, “Birds of a feather flock together.” The man ignored what he had done and paid him a thousand dinars.
The student : Other than that.
The Shaykh : Yes.
The student : Other than that.
The Shaykh : Here is the sincerity. The man was surprised; he now had two thousand. What is this? And the previous matter is a strange, extraordinary phenomenon. A piece of wood cut from the debtor’s story of the wood. Here the man had no choice but to say, “By Allah, on the day of the appointment, when I realized that I could not fulfill the promise, I took the thousand and crushed it into this wood and said, ‘O Lord, You were the guarantor and You were the witness.’” He said, “May Allah bless you in your wealth, and may Allah forgive your debt,” and he returned to him. “What?” the thousand dinars. Now imagine, in this time, a man picked up a piece of wood from the open sea, and in it were a thousand dinars, and no one knew about it. If he had kept it secret, if anyone had kept it secret, they would say, “No one has any news of it.” But these pure hearts that watch Allah and know that Allah is All-Aware of what is in the breasts, nothing is hidden from Him on earth or in the sky. This is the taqwa (mindfulness of Allah) that drove him to return the thousand dinars to him, and that Allah forgave your debt before you paid me with your hand. Here, what do we see? Where is the point? Our Lord made the sea subservient to this righteous, pious believer. So take it as a lesson: what He makes subservient.
The student :[At-Talaq 65:2] .
The Shaykh : What He makes subservient for a Muslim who fears Allah, so that he does not deposit his wealth in the bank out of preservation of the taqwa of Allah. Will He not support him? Will He not care for him? Yes. The second story is also like the first in the subject we are dealing with now. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:; that is, he addresses the cloud: A voice from the sky that is never heard. This is an extraordinary matter. This man is walking on the earth and hears this voice from the sky. Without a doubt, pay attention, this is an extraordinary matter here. Our man looked over the garden. ; with his pickaxe, “Peace be upon you, and upon you be peace,” , it is this one. So—may Allah bless you—take it as a lesson that if you fear Allah and take the lawful means to preserve your wealth, Allah will not disappoint you, and He will be with you; because Allah is with the righteous. And beware of thinking ill of Allah; that is, believing that if you fear Allah, our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) will neglect you and take care of the wicked sinner, preserving his wealth and losing yours. No, this is a reversal of the legal facts. It is not conceivable that a Muslim would fall into such a state unless he is heedless or ignorant. And the sweetest of them, as they say, is bitter. On this basis, I say: suppose a person has ten thousand riyals or dinars. He is able to place the largest portion of this amount in a secure place, whatever its nature, such that it does not occur to a thief or robber to reach out his hand to it. Then he keeps with him what he needs, every week, every month, and so on. And by that, his life is straightened out, and his mind and intellect are settled on the fact that his wealth is preserved, first by Allah’s preservation of it, and second by his taking the means that are permissible by the Shari'ah, and not by taking the means that are not permissible by the Shari'ah. Then I want to draw attention to the fact that many people, in their rush to preserve their wealth, are like small children. And no offense, when we were students in elementary school, we would see some of the playful students surprise their classmate by saying, “I bet you a bet.” That one pays attention: a qintar of lead is heavier than cotton. That one has it in his mind that lead is heavier, so he says to you directly, “No, lead, my brother, I am telling you a qintar of this and a qintar of that, it’s going by your logic, but a qintar of lead is this much, and a qintar of cotton can take a room, it takes the whole room.
The student : In terms of volume, yes.
The Shaykh : This is an illusion. Now people are grown up, but people fall into illusion. What do they say? Where should we put our money? As if the bank is safe from theft, from fire, from bankruptcy, while these things do happen.
The student : They happen, yes.
The Shaykh : Do you see? But people, but people are heedless. So when you say, “I want to put my money, I want to secure my money, where? In the bank,” you are forgetting that this bank is exposed to fire, exposed to theft—how many times has that happened? And then, third and finally, bankruptcy. So nothing is required of you but to fear Allah and take the means that are permissible by the Shari'ah. And by that, my observation or my speech regarding your question will be clear, if Allah wills. And we ask Allah to preserve us.
The student : ... the banks, in one moment, they ate it up.
The Shaykh : This has happened a lot.
The student : When did it go bankrupt? When they ate the money. Where is it? In their hands.
The Shaykh : That is it.
The student : It is possible to mention here now that it has become ... .
The Shaykh: Yes.
The student : Zero. They ate the rights of the people and the depositors, whether with interest or without interest, they ate it all.
The Shaykh: Correct.
The student : That is, the examples exist in life. So take heed, O you who have understanding.
The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar!
The student : Our Shaykh, there are, as it were, two questions.
The Shaykh: Go ahead.
The student : One question is enough.
The Shaykh : Please go ahead. No, the Shaykh, this is his habit. The Shaykh, and praise be to Allah, by His grace, often from after the 'Isha' prayer until Fajr, with some of the deviant people. I remember clearly that the first night was from Maghrib to 'Isha', and the session ended. The second night was from 'Isha' to eleven o'clock. The third night was from the 'Isha' prayer to the adhan of Fajr.
The student : But your body has a right over you.
The Shaykh : And praise be to Allah, our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) is the one who determines. Yes.

While a man from those before you was walking in a desolate part of the land, when he heard a voice from the sky saying
Water such-and-such land
So he walked with the cloud until he found the cloud emptying its load of water into a garden
And he saw in it a man working with his spades
He greeted him by the name he had heard from the sky. The man was surprised and noticed signs of foreignness on the Muslim, realizing that he was not from that area, so he was frank with him about it. He said to him, "By Allah, I was walking when I heard a voice from the clouds, so I followed the clouds until I found them watering only your garden and your land. How did you attain that?" He said, "By Allah, I do not know of anything for which I deserve this prophetic miracle from Allah, but I plant this land and harvest it, and I divide the harvest into three parts: one third I return to the earth, one third I spend on myself and my family, and one third I give in charity to the poor and needy around me." He said, "That is it."
The student : In terms of volume, yes.
