What is the ruling on the divorce of an angry person?

The Shaykh : If we set aside the state of distress for now and assume that you were in your right mind, composed, and calm, we look at this word that you spoke. What did you intend by it while you were calm? What did you intend now?

The questioner : When I am calm, I do not say it.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you. I am only asking you whether you say it or not. You have already said it. What has happened has happened. We return to Allah. The question now is: what do you intend by this word so that we can give you the answer?

The questioner : I do not want her.

The Shaykh : Again, you do not want her. What do you want with this word? ... Are you divorced?

The questioner : No, that was not my intention.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you. If so, what does it mean? By Allah, I do not know, and I do not know any more than that...
