A reminder to pay the zakah on fruits if they are cultivated in the house and reach the nisab.

The Shaykh : Here is a matter we should be alert to. Some people have a spacious house with a number of date palms in it, and these palms produce fruit that may reach the nisab. Yet people are negligent in paying its zakah because they say it is in the house, so they think that zakah is only obligatory in orchards. This is undoubtedly negligence. Otherwise, people, praise be to Allah, do not hesitate to pay the zakah from it. But we must be alert. If a person has ten or fifteen date palms in his house and their fruit reaches the nisab, it is obligatory for him to pay its zakah.
