The questioner : And likewise the narration of Ibn al-Sunni and al-Bayhaqi from al-Hasan ibn 'Ali from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
Whoever is born a child, and he calls the adhan in his right ear and the iqamah in his left ear, the old woman of children will not afflict him من ولد له مولود فأذن في أذنه اليمنى وأقام في أذنه اليسرى لم تصبه أم الصبيان
?

The Shaykh : This is fabricated, and it has been known as such for a long time among us. But we are speaking about the evidence mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim, which he attributed to al-Bayhaqi in *Shu'ab al-Iman*. We did not know its chain of narration until a few years ago. As for that hadith of the old woman of children, it is known to be fabricated, because Ibn al-Sunni was preceded... by about thirty or forty years!
