The phone is ringing.
The Shaykh : Yes.
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy
The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
The questioner : How are you, our dear professor?
The connection was cut off.
The Shaykh : Please go ahead.
The questioner : My lord, regarding the parents of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, how do we rule on them? Some hadiths say they are in the Fire, and some groups do not want to clarify the matter with this speech; they say it is not known whether they are in Paradise or in the Fire... We need the hadiths regarding this matter.
The Shaykh : A book he wrote twenty years ago, by Allah, has had fifteen, twenty editions, and it is the same; it has not advanced or regressed. This means he is not interested in his knowledge; his knowledge is stagnant and fixed, and so on. The point is, tomorrow, if Allah wills, I will receive the number of the hadith in which this research is found...
Another questioner : Our Shaykh, and this is the methodology of the Imams.
The Shaykh : Yes, indeed. May Allah reward you for the research. It has two aspects. The first aspect, as they say today, is creedal; it relates to the Muslim's creed, as Allah the Exalted said[An-Nisa 4:65], and as in the other verse [Al-Ahzab 33:36]. This is the principle that every Muslim must adhere to, and upon which he must live and die. Matters are built upon this principle or branch from it. Whoever is a true believer, as in these two verses and others, will show his submission to the ruling of Allah and His Messenger. Look now, for example, at the story of the woman from the Khazraj tribe who stole. She used to borrow goods from people and then deny it. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her hand to be cut off. The matter was great for some people who honored her and valued her status; that her hand would be cut off was a heavy burden for them. So they spoke to Usamah ibn Zayd, who was nicknamed the beloved of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to intercede for her with the Messenger of Allah, hoping he would pardon her. He came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to intercede for her, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Usamah: Sunan Abi Dawud 4373Sahih (Al-Albani), rebuking him. And here is the point now: Sunan an-Nasa'i 4903Sahih (Darussalam). This is very heavy for us, that the Messenger speaks these words about whom? About Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . And yet he said this. Why? To make clear the ruling of Allah: that in the fixed punishments (hudud), there is no intercession. If the closest person commits a fixed punishment, it must be executed. Now, the issue you asked about: the starting point must not be from uncontrolled emotions, but from the firm creed in the hearts of the believers. So the first thing a Muslim should do when he hears this hadith is . Look now at the horror of this incident from the emotional side, but true faith overcomes emotion. In some narrations of this hadith, , and the hadith is mentioned. The point is that 'Umar said he asked why the Messenger of Allah was weeping. If there had been room for weeping, we would have wept, or we would have made each other weep, because it certainly saddens them the most to see the master of mankind weeping. But when he said to them: , they submitted and calmed down to the ruling of Allah on the tongue of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So here, we must leave emotions aside and submit to the ruling of the Messenger of Allah, as we mentioned earlier in some of the preceding verses. The objection raised by some people to this hadith is not a scholarly objection, but an emotional one. This emotion leads some people to strain themselves to find a way out of the implication of this hadith. How, my brother? Ammu Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the master of mankind, how can he be in the Fire? We must now remember a verse and a hadith. The verse is: [Al-Mu'minun 23:101], and the hadith is: Sahih Muslim 2699a. In a poem, I am not sure I remember it, it says that Islam raised the status of Salman, who was Persian, and lowered the status of Abu Lahab, who was Qurashi. Why? Because this one was a disbeliever and that one was a believer. So [Al-Mu'minun 23:101] and Sahih Muslim 2699a. The doubt raised by some of these emotional people is that the mother of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and the father of the Messenger died before his mission, and this is a true statement. So how are they punished? How can they be from the people of the Fire? They clarify and state openly that those who were before the Messenger are from the people of the period of ignorance (al-fatra), and the people of the period of ignorance are not punished. Here now is the precision in the matter: Who are the people of the period of ignorance? The people of the period of ignorance are those to whom the call of the Messenger did not reach.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed. May Allah reward you for the research. It has two aspects. The first aspect, as they say today, is creedal; it relates to the Muslim's creed, as Allah the Exalted said
But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.
Are you interceding regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah ?
By the One in whose hand is my soul, if Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand.
Fatimah is a part of me; what irritates her irritates me, and what pains her pains me.
I sought permission from my Lord to visit the grave of my mother, and He permitted me, and I sought His permission to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not permit me.
The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), when he visited his mother's grave — and he was on his way to Makkah — turned off the road and stopped at the grave. The Companions saw him weeping. 'Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "O Messenger of Allah, why are you weeping?" He said:
I asked my Lord for permission to visit my mother's grave, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him for permission to seek forgiveness for her, but He did not grant it to me.
