Naming.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It should be named. It ought to be named. If it is a male, give it a male name; if it is a female, give it a female name. If it is an intersex? It should be named. It is obligatory to name it with a name suitable for both, such as saying: "Gift of Allah." "Gift of Allah" is suitable, because this newborn is from what Allah has gifted to his parent, as Allah the Exalted said:
(49) To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what he wills. He gives to whom He wills female [children], and He gives to whom He wills males. (50) Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent. لله ملك السماوات والأرض يخلق ما يشاء يهب لمن يشاء إناثا ويهب لمن يشاء الذكور أو يزوجهم ذكرانا وإناثا
[Ash-Shuraa 42:49-50]
.
The important point is that if it is an intersex, it is named with a name suitable for both male and female. If it is a male, use a male name; if it is a female, use a female name.
