The Shaykh : Have you not heard, on this occasion, the story of that man who, when death approached him, gathered his children around him and said to them: "What kind of father was I to you?" They said: "The best of fathers." He said: "I am a sinner with my Lord, and if Allah were to take me to account, He would surely punish me with severe punishment. So when I die, take me and burn me with fire, then scatter half of me in the wind and half in the sea." So the man died, and they burned him.
Eid Abbasi : Perhaps ... upon my Lord.
The Shaykh: Yes.
And they carried out his will, scattering half of the ashes in the raging wind and the other half in the surging sea. Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said to his particles: "Be so-and-so"; and so it was. Then Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: "O My servant, what drove you to do what you did?" He said: "My Lord, it was Your fear." He said: "Go, for I have forgiven you." It is reported in a narration in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad:, and this is among the virtues of "La ilaha illa Allah," in which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: , and as we have explained to you, either an absolute prohibition, or He prohibited the eternal fire for him according to his remaining good and bad deeds. As for a monotheist being made to dwell eternally in the Fire because of sins he committed and earned; that is impossible.
This is truly the creed of the people of the Sunnah and the community, and this is what we call people to constantly and forever. We do not take a ruling, opinion, or creed from a single hadith; rather, we gather the hadiths together. Undoubtedly, if you look at this hadith:, you will see it is pure extremism, the kind that declares Muslims disbelievers for committing a major sin. But it is not permissible to look at this hadith and ignore many hadiths, indeed verses, such as: [An-Nisa 4:48]. Some of the misguided in the recent era, those who are called the group of Takfir, fell into the methodology of the Khawarij and began to interpret the texts of the Book and the Sunnah as the Mu'tazilah did with all the ideas in which they disagreed with the people of the Sunnah. So what did they say about this verse, for example? [An-Nisa 4:48]. When they were asked: "How do you declare those with sins and disobedience disbelievers? How do you deal with this verse?" They said: [An-Nisa 4:48] from those who repented. We said to them: "Glory be to Allah, by saying 'from those who repented,' you have nullified the verse. Also, if a polytheist repents, Allah forgives him. So if you reduce the issue to repentance, there is no difference between a polytheist and one who commits a major sin."
The point is: We are not on this specific point. The important thing is that correct rulings and creeds must be taken from the totality of the evidence regarding a specific point. Our discussion now is about a person who commits sins, indeed major sins, but does not consider them permissible in his heart; he does not say, as many of the ignorant people today say: "There is no halal or haram." That is a disbeliever who has apostatized from his religion. But many people commit sins, and by Allah, they are humbled between themselves and their Lord. May Allah accept our repentance. Perhaps at this very moment, for example, he turns back to his Lord, remembers his sin and regrets it, then the soul that commands evil overpowers him, and so he is like a stalk of wheat in a stormy wind, swaying once to the right and once to the left.
So the conclusion is: This hadith does not differ from the previous hadith except that it confirms that it is the hypocrite of the hypocrisy we explained, practical hypocrisy, and he is a pure practical hypocrite with nothing mixed with it in this regard.
The Shaykh : Please, my brother, what do you have ...?
Eid Abbasi : Perhaps ... upon my Lord.
The Shaykh: Yes.
