Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A questioner says: A woman in the desert, confined to her home by an illness that does not prevent her from fasting, but who does not know the months other than Ramadan. When Ramadan arrived, she was asking a close female relative whether Ramadan had arrived or not, in order to fast. But her relative was bad and lied to her, saying, "We are in the month of Sha'ban and Ramadan has not arrived." She believed her and did not fast. Following the end of Ramadan, she died. This relative regretted that. Does she fast on her behalf or not? Please inform us. May Allah reward you with the best reward.

The Shaykh : It appears to me that she should fast on her behalf, because she is the one who deceived her. And whoever destroys something is responsible for compensating for it. She must also repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for what she did in deceiving this ignorant Muslim woman. If she fasts on her behalf, I hope that will be an expiation for her for what she did to her. Yes.
