The Acts of the Days of Mina

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then, on the second day of the days of Mina, which is the eleventh day, the pilgrims go to stone the three pillars after the sun has passed its zenith, that is, after the time for the midday prayer has entered. They stone the first pillar, which is the one closest to the Mosque of Aqabah and is the farthest of the three pillars from Makkah, with seven pebbles, saying Allahu Akbar with each pebble. Then he moves forward and stands facing the qiblah, raising his hands, supplicating to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) with a long supplication. Then he stones the middle pillar in the same manner, and stands after it facing the qiblah, raising his hands, supplicating to Allah the Exalted with a long supplication. Then he stones the Pillar of Aqabah in the same manner, that is, with seven pebbles, and does not stand after it. This is the Sunnah according to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). If standing for a long time is difficult for him, he should stand, even if only briefly, in order to revive the Sunnah. On the twelfth day, likewise, he stones the three pillars after the sun has passed its zenith, as we have mentioned. Then, if he wishes, he may remain for the thirteenth day, or if he wishes, he may leave. If he leaves, he is the one who hastens, and if he remains, that is better, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ تَأَخَّرَ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
Here we ask about His saying:
whoever hastens [his departure] in two days فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
Does the day of the festival fall within them, or does it not fall within them? It does not fall within them, because if the day of the festival fell within them, it would be permissible to hasten on the eleventh day, and that is not the case. Some of the common people understood that His saying:
whoever hastens [his departure] in two days فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
includes the day of the festival, and that is not the case, because Allah said:
And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَعْدُودَاتٍ فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
and the numbered days are the days of Tashriq.
