The questioner : This is a questioner who says: O honorable Shaykh, is it not obligatory for a person who stays in Mina for three days to go out to the market? If he does go out, is his Hajj invalid or not? May you be rewarded.
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. The pilgrim goes out to Mina on the eighth day and leaves it on the morning of the ninth day, then returns to it on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice. As for his presence there on the eighth day, it is a recommended practice (sunnah) and not obligatory. As for his presence there on the Day of Sacrifice and the days after it, it is obligatory for him to spend the night of the eleventh and the night of the twelfth in Mina. As for the night of the thirteenth, if he wishes he stays, and if he wishes he departs early, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:203] The counted days are the days of Tashreeq, which are three days after the festival. So the pilgrim remains in Mina from the Day of Sacrifice to the twelfth day if he departs early, or to the thirteenth day if he delays. However, the jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) say that the obligation is to remain at night, while during the day it is not obligatory. But there is no doubt that it is a recommended practice (sunnah) for a person to remain in Mina on the Day of Sacrifice and all the days of Tashreeq, or two of them if he departs early, night and day, meaning that he remains in Mina night and day. Even if he has some hardship, because Hajj is a type of jihad, and it must involve hardship.
Based on this, if someone descends from Mina to Makkah to buy something during these days, there is no blame on him and nothing is wrong with it, because he will buy and return. Yes.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
