Continuation of the discussion on the acts of the days of Mina.

The Shaykh : Standing for a long time, or even standing for a short time, is for the sake of reviving the Sunnah. On the twelfth day, likewise, one throws the three pillars after the sun passes its zenith, as we mentioned. Then, if he wishes, he may stay for the thirteenth day, or if he wishes, he may leave. If he leaves, he is the one who hastens; if he stays, that is better, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ تَأَخَّرَ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
. Here we ask about His saying:
whoever hastens [his departure] in two days فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
Does the day of the festival fall within these two days, or does it not? It does not fall within them, because if the day of the festival were included in them, it would be permissible to hasten on the eleventh day, which is not the case. Some of the common people understood that His saying:
whoever hastens [his departure] in two days فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
includes the day of the festival, but that is not the case, because Allah said:
And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَعْدُودَاتٍ فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:203]
The counted days are the days of Tashriq. The days of Tashriq do not occur except after the festival, three days after it. They are called the days of Tashriq because people dry meat in them. How do they dry it? They spread it in the sun until it dries and does not rot. With this, the Hajj is completed. If he intends to return to his country, he does not return until he performs the farewell circumambulation. The scholars said that if one delays the Tawaf of Ifadah, the Tawaf of Hajj, and performs it upon his departure intending it to be the Tawaf of Ifadah, it suffices for the farewell circumambulation. If he intends both, it suffices for both. If he intends only the farewell circumambulation, it does not suffice for the Tawaf of Ifadah. This is a matter we must be alert to. The one who delays the Tawaf of Ifadah until he performs it upon his departure has three cases: either he intends it to be the farewell circumambulation, in which case it does not suffice for the Tawaf of Ifadah, and the Tawaf of Ifadah remains upon him, as it is a pillar of the pillars of Hajj; or he intends it to be the Tawaf of Ifadah only, in which case it suffices for the farewell circumambulation; or he intends both, in which case it suffices for both. Now, with this, the acts of Hajj are concluded.
