What is your opinion on conversing with a jinn to convince it? (And the Shaykh's advice to the ruqah practitioners)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Some of the jinn, or some of the Shayatin, mean that a person needs to converse with them until he convinces them. For example, some of the jinn wants to, for instance, submit and declare its Islam, but it needs to be convinced. It is the Shaytan or the jinn itself that asks questions and wants answers to them. So from here, I engage with it in dialogue so that I may be the cause of its conviction, if Allah wills, Mighty and Majestic. About a week or two weeks ago, I was exposed to a case, and this case needed convincing from the Book and the Sunnah. This man, forgive me, if Allah wills, for the length, but if Allah wills, we will summarize it. This brother was claiming that he was possessed by a jinn. So I said to him, "Are you possessed by a jinn?" He said, "Yes." I said to him, "Can you make this jinn present, or can you, for example, make it speak?" He said, "Yes, it appears on my right hand and I make it speak." I said, "Okay." So it appeared on his right hand, and he held his hand like this and held the pen, and he wrote "Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings" in the middle of the paper, and said, "Ask what you wish." So I sat and asked him some questions. "What is your name?" He said, "My name is Abu Muhammad, and my name is such and such." I said, "What is your age?" He said, "550 years." "What do you do?" He said, "I am a doctor of herbs." And he answered some questions. In the end, I said to him, "Okay, I want to talk with you. What proves to you that you are a jinn? It is possible that you are the same person who is writing. I want to know how." He said, "Read the Qur'an to me, and you know." So I read the Qur'an to him. When I read the Qur'an to him, he said, "I am the Shaytan himself. I am not Abu Muhammad, and I am not a doctor of herbs, and I am not such and such. I am the Shaytan myself, and I came to you to test you. I am not sitting here to possess this person, but I came to you in order to test you and know how you control the jinn and take them out of the humans." And I entered into a dialogue with him, and he would argue with me and say, "You will not be able to overcome me, even if you read all of it, even if, even if." And here I read to him al-Saffat in full, and Ya Sin in full, and al-Dukhan in full, and I read to him some verses. In the end, I blew in his right ear, so he said, "You have overcome me, you have overcome me." And here he left and said, "I did not come to possess this person, but I came to test you." And the jinn departed and will not return. And I read to the sick brother twice after that, and nothing appeared on this brother.

The Shaykh : Yes, you have not added anything new to us, and therefore I have nothing new. You must hold fast to the guidance of the Salaf and not hold fast to the principle whose source is from the Jews: "the end justifies the means." Do not think that by doing things more than reading the Qur'an—this reading that our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to read for the possessed person—if you add to it, there is no difference between you in this addition and the addition of that Shi'ite who says "I bear witness that Ali is the close friend of Allah," and that Sunni who prays before the adhan and after the adhan. And all of this falls under the generality of the hadith of the one who came before:
Avoid novelties, for every novelty is an innovation, and every innovation is an error وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور فإن كل محدثة بدعة وكل بدعة ضلالة وكل ضلالة في النار
Sunan Abi Dawud 4607Sahih (Al-Albani)

The questioner : May Allah reward you

The Shaykh : We have heard many things, and very many, about such stories, that so-and-so, the jinn that was possessing so-and-so or so-and-so, was able to take it out, and that it submitted, it became Muslim, and then it became his companion.

The questioner : He prays at the mosque of Da'wah

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : They pray at the mosque of Da'wah

The Shaykh : And he became his companion, and he used to seek his help in treating other possessed people. O people, this is seeking help from the jinn, which the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade with the strongest prohibition.
or who goes to a fortuneteller and believes what he says, he has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad. من أتى عرفا فصدقه بما يقول فقد كفر بما أنزل على محمد
Sunan Ibn Majah 639Hasan (Darussalam)
When it tells you, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and I have submitted," you may believe it.

The questioner : No, I do not believe it, I do not believe it. I know that it is lying to me.

The Shaykh : I am not talking about a specific story. May Allah guide you.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : I did not say about a specific story.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And especially since I said, and I was cautious, I said, "You may believe it."

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : You may

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And you may not believe it.

The questioner : I, even if he said

The Shaykh : Listen.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So how do you distinguish the truthful jinn from the lying one? And we today live with some of us for many years, and then, if a man turns out to be a spy to us.

The questioner : And: Hehehehe

The questioner : No matter what he says, that he is Muslim, I never believe it.

The Shaykh : So how do you deal with it?

The questioner : I do not deal with it. I read the Qur'an to him and I say to him, "Get out, get out, O enemy of Allah." I do not say to him more than that. But if he asks me to convince him of Islam, I convince him with the hadiths and the verses only. There is nothing more than this.

The Shaykh: Okay

The questioner : I do not ask him for help with anyone.

The Shaykh : Ah

The questioner : I do not ask him for anything.

The Shaykh : The point is, do not add to the recitation of the Qur'an.

The questioner : No, I do not add to the recitation of the Qur'an.

The Shaykh : Other than that. It is eleven and a half now, Mr. Taysir.

The questioner : Finished, may Allah reward you. We have to let you go, Shaykh, it is time.

The questioner : One last question, Shaykh.

The questioner : Hehehehehe

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you. Yes.
