What is the ruling on praying in congregation at home without an adhan? And is it sufficient for the one praying alone or the one who is late to the congregation to rely on the adhan of the mosque?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In a question about prayer, you asked about... hearing the adhan... now... so many, I mean, the mu'adhdhin calls and we know the time for prayer has arrived, and to complete the gathering of the brothers, we have not called the adhan inside the house, we only establish the iqamah, we establish it and pray. Does this mean there is a contradiction with the Sunnah, inside the house?

The Shaykh : I mean, you are praying here on the adhan of the mosque.

The questioner : Yes, such that the time is known, the time, I mean, we feel the time by the clock.

The Shaykh : No, you have ruined the question now...

The questioner : ... we see the minaret from afar, we see it, the time for the adhan has arrived.

The Shaykh : So you do not hear the adhan?

The questioner : No, we do not hear it, a little.

The Shaykh : ...

The questioner : I mean, we do not hear it much, depending on the wind.

The Shaykh : Because, because there is a difference between hearing the adhan according to some opinions.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : And between what you hear of the adhan, there is a difference, I say repeatedly, according to some opinions. But as for what you will hear from me, there is no difference. However, my methodology in knowledge and fiqh is that I do not discard the opinions of the scholars as long as I am able to do so.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : It has been narrated from some of the Salaf that he was asked about prayer without an adhan, and he said: "The adhan of the neighborhood is sufficient for us." So if I wanted to grant you a dispensation based on what I heard from you in your first statement, I would say the adhan of the neighborhood is sufficient for you.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : But then it became clear that even the adhan of the neighborhood is not there. And so the issue differed. As for me, I say if you are hearing the adhan and for some reason you prayed in your house, you must have an adhan specific to your prayer. And the statement of the one who says "the adhan of the neighborhood is sufficient for us" is not a hadith traced to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the first place, and secondly, we have a hadith from the Messenger (peace be upon him) commanding every person who prays to call the adhan and the iqamah, even if he prays alone. So what about when they pray in congregation? That hadith is in some of the famous paths of the hadith among the scholars, known as the hadith of the one whose prayer was deficient. And I think you all know the hadith of the one whose prayer was deficient, which al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, that a man entered the mosque and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in a corner of it, so he prayed, then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah." He said:
Wa 'Alaikas Salam (returned his greeting). Go back and pray as you have not prayed (properly). وعليك السلام ارجع فصل فإنك لم تصل
Sahih al-Bukhari 6251
He returned, and without wasting time now, and the time is tight, three times he prays, he returns to the Prophet, "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah," and "And upon you, peace"
go back and pray for indeed you have not prayed. ارجع فصل فإنك لم تصل
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2692Sahih (Darussalam)
The man realized in the third time that he did not know how to pray properly, so he admitted saying: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I do not know how to do it other than this, so teach me." So he (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
When you stand up for prayer, perform wudu as Allah has commanded you, then face the qiblah, then say takbir, then recite what is easy of the Qur'an, then bow until you are at rest in bowing, then raise your head until you are at rest standing, until the end of it. He said: If you have done that, your prayer is complete, and if you have diminished from that, you have diminished from your prayer.
This hadith is in the two Sahihs, but it came from the path of another Companion and another path in Sunan Abu Dawud, he said to him:
When you stand up for prayer, face the qiblah, call the adhan and the iqamah, then say takbir. إذا قمت إلى الصلاة فاستقبل القبلة وأذّن وأقم ثم كبّر
, call the adhan and the iqamah, then say takbir, until the end of it.
