The questioner : I read in the noble verse: [An-Nur 24:23] I read that it contains evidence that the one who accuses the wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has no repentance. Is not the door of repentance open if the servant repents and turns to us in light of this question?
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. It is known that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said in His noble Book:[Az-Zumar 39:53] And He the Exalted said: [An-Nisa 4:17] And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Furqan 25:68-70] And Allah the Exalted said: [An-Nur 24:4] meaning by zina [An-Nur 24:4-5] So Allah the Exalted made clear that repentance has an effect even in the case of accusing chaste women of zina. As for what the questioner mentioned regarding some scholars saying that the one who accuses the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of zina will not have his repentance accepted, their intention is that the execution is not lifted from him. This is because the one who accuses the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), or any one of them, whether it be Aisha or another, is a disbeliever and an apostate who has exited Islam, even if he prays and fasts, even if he performs Hajj and 'Umrah. Because if he accuses the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of zina, the woman committing zina is vile without a doubt, and Allah the Exalted said: [An-Nur 24:26] And if she is vile and her husband is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), it necessarily follows that the Messenger, may he be far from that, is vile. And thus, accusing any one of the Mothers of the Believers is disbelief and apostasy. If a person repents from that, Allah accepts his repentance, but he must be killed to take the blood money for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for it is not possible for a believer to be satisfied that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is the husband of whores. We have the right to kill him because this is the right of our Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and we do not know that he forgave.
And the summary of that is that those who said: "The one who accuses the wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has no repentance" mean by that that the execution is not lifted from him, and they do not mean that Allah the Exalted does not forgive him. For Allah the Exalted accepts the repentance of every one who repents. And if you want to know the magnitude of accusing any one of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of zina, look at what Allah the Exalted revealed regarding those who brought the slander, from the great verses which are like thunderbolts upon the one who brought the slander. Look at His saying the Exalted:[An-Nur 24:15] It becomes clear to you the magnitude of accusing the wives of the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) of zina. So we ask Allah the Exalted to cut off the tongue of the one who accused any one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of zina, and to unleash upon him one who establishes the hadd upon him. Indeed, He is Able to do all things.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O honorable Shaykh.
Indeed, those who [falsely] accuse chaste, unaware and believing women are cursed in this world and the Hereafter
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. It is known that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) said in His noble Book:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
(68) And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty. (69) Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated - (70) Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
And those who accuse chaste women
(4) And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient, (5) Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Evil words are for evil men, and evil men are [subjected] to evil words.
Look at His saying the Exalted:
and thought it was insignificant while it was, in the sight of Allah, tremendous.
