The Shaykh's response to the Quranists.

The Shaykh : Therefore, it is obligatory for anyone who possesses any knowledge to refute this approach that has appeared, or has been made to appear, in this present age. We have heard for about half a century of a group who claim affiliation with the Qur'an and call themselves Quranists, as they are content with the claim that Islam is nothing but the Qur'an. Now, a new call has emerged that is very similar to that previous call, though it does not openly claim to restrict itself to the Qur'an alone, as that group used to openly tell people that Islam is nothing but the Noble Qur'an. We do not need to prove the invalidity of those who openly state that Islam is only the Noble Qur'an, but we want to clarify that some people who appear to be calling to Islam by the Book and the Sunnah have been led astray by their desires or their minds from the Sunnah, and they have fallen into something similar to what those people fell into, which is relying on the Qur'an alone. Therefore, I want to explain to you the danger of this approach that this group has taken. We all know the statement of our Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, addressing our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in His saying: The many verses that the preachers of the Sunnah constantly recite, commanding the return to the Book and the Sunnah, are too well-known to be mentioned, so I will not prolong the session now by mentioning them.
