The Shaykh : The hadith of Thawban. The author says: "And from Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said

He who offered prayer for the dead, for him is the reward of one qirat, and he who attended its burial, he would have two qirats as his reward. And qirat is equivalent to Uhud.

من صلى على جنازة فله قيراط وإن شهد دفنها فله قيراطان، القيراط مثل أحد

Narrated by Muslim and Ibn Majah. Ibn Majah also narrated it from the hadith of Abu ibn Ka'b, adding at the end
