The Shaykh : As for the characteristic that follows the Smoke, which is the Dajjal, the reality is that the hadiths concerning the Dajjal are numerous and extremely numerous; they have reached the level of mass transmission (mutawatir). In every hadith, or in many of these hadiths, there are descriptions and details concerning the Dajjal other than the descriptions and details mentioned in other hadiths. The sum of these hadiths leads the researcher to be certain that this Dajjal is a human being from among the creation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that he has marvels and supernatural occurrences by which people are tested. Not all people, but rather those who do not have strong faith and correct knowledge in their hearts to repel the doubt that this major Dajjal displays. It is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), among the authentic hadiths concerning the Dajjal, his statement:
Between the creation of Adam and the Hour, there is a greater trial than the trial of the Dajjal. ما بين خلق آدم والساعة فتنة أكبر من فتنة الدجال
; so the trial of the Dajjal is the greatest trial that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) creates before the Hour occurs, as a test from Him for His servants. The trial of the Dajjal is the greatest trial that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) creates before the Hour occurs, as a test from Him for His servants. And it is for Him (Exalted and Majestic is He) to test His servants with whatever trials and afflictions He wills.
Among the characteristics of the Dajjal and his marvels is that he says to the sky: "Rain down," and it rains; and to the earth: "Grow your vegetation," and it grows; and to the barren land: "Bring out your treasures," and its treasures come out and move behind him. There is much like this. The strangest thing mentioned in the authentic hadith is that he cuts a man in half and then restores him to life. However, this man is in reality a sign of the incapacity of this human being and that he is a creation of a jinn; because when he kills this man and cuts him into two pieces, he does so to him because of his disbelief in the Dajjal and his lack of faith in his false claim, which is that he is the Creator God, claiming lordship. This is how it came in the hadiths.
