The Trial of the Dajjal

Fatwa No. ( 1758 ):
Q: We have previously heard about the story of the Trial of the Dajjal , that he commands the sky to rain and commands the earth to grow or bear fruit, and that he brings out treasures from the earth, and that he kills a man and he comes back to life, and that he says to those who teach us: What is the authentic account of the Dajjal's actions? Is it an illusion (qamarah) that dazzles people's eyes? So please inform us of what is authentic?
A: It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Dajjal will appear in the last of time, and that he will say to the sky: "Rain," and it will rain, and he will say to the earth: "Sprout," and it will sprout. He will kill a believing man, then say to him: "Rise," and he will rise. He will say to him: "I am your Lord," and the man will say to him: "You have lied. Rather, you are the one-eyed liar about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us. By Allah, I have only increased in insight regarding you." He will then try to kill him, but will not be allowed to do so. He will claim divinity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified for him three signs indicating the falsehood of his claim to divinity. The first is that he is one-eyed in the right eye, and Allah the Exalted is not one-eyed. The second is that the word "kafir" (disbeliever) is written between his eyes, which every believing reader and non-reader can read. The third is that he is seen in this world, whereas no one sees Allah the Exalted until they die. This is indicated by what came in the hadith of al-Nu'as ibn Sim'an (may Allah be pleased with him) in Muslim in the chapter on the trial of the Dajjal, from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops.
فيأتي على القوم فيدعوهم فيؤمنون به ويستجيبون له فيأمر السماء فتمطر والأرض فتنبت..He would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer and his target. He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness)
ثم يدعو رجلاً ممتلئًا شبابًا فيضربه بالسيف فيقطعه جزلتين رمية الغرض ثم يدعوه فيقبل ويتهلل وجهه يضحكand a person who would be the best of men or one from amongst the best of men would say to him: I bear testimony to the fact that you are Dajjal about whom Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had informed us. The Dajjal would say: What is your opinion if I kill this (person), then I bring him back to life; even then will you harbour doubt in this matter? They would say: No. He would then kill (the man) and then bring him back to life. When he would bring that person to life, he would say: By Allah, I had no better proof of the fact (that you are a Dajjal) than at the present time (that you are actually so). The Dajjal would then make an attempt to kill him (again) but he would not be able to do that.
فيقولون: لا، فيقتله، ثم يحييه، فيقول حين يحييه: والله ما كنت قبل قط أشد بصيرة مني الآن، قال: فيريد الدجال أن يقتله، فلا يسلط عليهthe Dajjal would have with him water and fire and his fire would have the effect of cold water and his water would have the effect of fire, so don't put yourself to ruin
أن مع الدجال ماء ونارا فناره ماء بارد وماؤه نار فلا تهلكواAnd narrated to me Muhammad ibn Mahrān al-Razi with the same chain in the hadith of al-Nu'as :
He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirm their faith in him and respond to him. He would then give command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would grow crops. Then in the evening, their pasturing animals would come to them with their humps very high and their udders full of milk and their flanks stretched. He would then come to another people and invite them. But they would reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be left with them in the form of wealth.
He would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut him into two pieces and (make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer and his target. He would then call (that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness)
ثم يدعو رجلاً ممتلئًا شبابًا فيضربه بالسيف فيقطعه جزلتين رمية الغرض ثم يدعوه فيقبل يتهلل وجهه يضحك...and a person who would be the best of men or one from amongst the best of men would say to him: I bear testimony to the fact that you are Dajjal about whom Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had informed us.
