The Shaykh : As for the characteristic that follows the smoke, which is the Dajjal, the reality is that the hadiths concerning the Dajjal are numerous, and very numerous indeed, to the extent that they have reached the level of mass transmission (mutawatir). In every hadith, or in many of these hadiths, there are descriptions and details concerning the Dajjal that differ from the descriptions and details mentioned in other hadiths. The sum of these hadiths leads the researcher to certainty that this Dajjal is a human being, a creation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that he has marvels and supernatural occurrences by which people are deluded. Not all people, but rather those who do not have strong faith and correct knowledge in their hearts... After seeing [this], did you believe? He said, "I have only increased in faith that you are the greater Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us." And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says in this hadith that he is unable to unleash [his power] upon them a second time, and that is to display his inability in his claim of lordship. This is among the characteristics of the Dajjal related to his marvels. But among his physical characteristics... which are not befitting the Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, is that he is one-eyed. The narrations differed in specifying whether it is the right or the left eye, but they all agreed that he is one-eyed. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Companions, while describing this Dajjal to them: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2245Sahih (Darussalam) And he further alerts the believer that this Dajjal is impossible to be the Lord. He (peace be upon him) said: How can this be your Lord when you see him? And none of you will see his Lord until he dies. Then you see him as one-eyed, and this is a defect and a shortcoming. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) possesses all attributes of perfection. And among what is related to the Dajjal is that it was described that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has forbidden him from Makkah and al-Madinah, so he will not be able to enter them. All these characteristics give the one who looks into them the understanding that he is a created being.
