The Dajjal and His Description
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Among them is the Dajjal, which is the greatest of them. It is the Dajjal from whom we were commanded to seek refuge with Allah in every prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Ibn Majah 909Sahih (Darussalam) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned in this hadith that there is nothing since the creation of Adam until the Hour that is greater than the Messiah al-Dajjal, because his trial is immense, as will become clear from the following hadith. The Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) explained that this man is deficient in his creation and that he is blind in his right eye, as if his eye is a floating or sinking grape. This is a clear, tangible sign that does not confuse anyone. Every person who looks at this man with the description mentioned by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) will not be unaware that he is a liar, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) described him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) also indicated another tangible sign: the word "K-F-R" (meaning disbeliever) is written between his eyes. Every believer reads this writing, whether he knows how to read or not; Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) inspires him to read this writing. These are two tangible signs. If someone were to say, "The fact that this Dajjal is a created being is the greatest sign that he is not a god, because the god (Glorified and Exalted is He) has not begotten nor been begotten," we would say that this is a rational proof. As for his being blind and the word "K-F-R" being written between his eyes, these are tangible signs. When trials become severe, tangible signs are closer to knowing the matter as it is than rational signs, because rational signs, despite their strength, may be hidden from a person during intense trials, and one only believes in tangible things. This is why, when Quraysh said to the Messenger (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him), "Show us a sign," He showed them the splitting of the moon, even though verses of the Shari'ah were being revealed to him, supported by rational proofs, but they were not convinced by them until He showed them the sign of the splitting of the moon. He pointed to the moon, and it split into two parts: one part on Mount Abu Qubays and the other part on Mount Qu'ayqizan, meaning on al-Safa and al-Marwah. People witnessed it, but as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Qamar 54:2] We ask about this Dajjal: is he a man, a Shaytan, or what?
