What is the firm creed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Abu Malik: All right, my brother Jamal...

The questioner : Please go ahead.
Abu Malik: We have established that the creed of these people is firm and strong, and that there is no creed in the world that is firm and strong, even if it is a false and corrupt creed. A person may be convinced that his creed is firm and strong, but there is a difference between one firm and strong creed and another firm and strong creed. There is a difference between two creeds, one of which is correct and the other is not. So, when a communist speaks about his creed, he speaks with enthusiasm and conviction, and likewise the non-communist speaks with the same logic, or with the same enthusiasm and strength, even though, of course, the two creeds are different. So, if the creed is established and firm among those people, why is there this intense dispute between Jamil al-Rahman and Sayyaf and his group? Why?

The questioner : I have answered you.
Abu Malik: Why is there, for example, this distance from this one and that one is distant from this one, and each of them threatens the other, and each of them does not see the truth and the right with the other? Why?

The Shaykh: Perhaps, if you allow me to complete your question, may Allah bless you, we can understand what the professor means here by the firm creed?
Abu Malik: This question leads to...

The Shaykh: No problem, let us be frank, meaning...
Abu Malik: Okay, yes.

The Shaykh: What is the firm creed that you mean?

The questioner: Is this question a test for me?

The Shaykh: No, it is not a test, just for your benefit—laughs—

The questioner: May Allah honor you. If it is for benefit, we take it from your eminence, and that would be more complete. But also for the sake of clarification, I say that a firm creed means that the creed of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is clear to them. This is in the tawhid of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in His names and attributes, tawhid al-rububiyyah (oneness of lordship), and tawhid al-uluhiyyah (oneness of worship). This matter is clear and established with them. Then, in their creed regarding the prophets, the angels, the messengers, and the Last Day, and in their creed, their conviction regarding qadar (divine decree), its good and its evil. If you ask me whether I asked them, I say yes, because in many sessions we have sat with them and with many scholars, and they directed direct questions to them in order to establish the proof. In addition, we and our brothers participate in their educational institutions. The person who has a creed spreads this creed among his followers. We have looked into their universities and schools and taught in them, and there are those who have taught in them, and we know what the references are and why they chose us for this matter. Therefore, this is in the context of establishing the proof. And throughout our presence with them, we did not notice and we did not find any clear evidence that they had contradicted this creed. I say this, and I do not say that all of them are so. There are different or multiple Sufi groups in Afghan society, and this is not hidden from you. There are presidencies that are the foundation and religious presidencies for these groups, and thus they have taken their leadership among the Afghan people. But in brief, I say, without digressing, they do not have a real existence in the future of Afghanistan. The real future of Afghanistan is, after the will of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not decree except good, dependent on known, specific personalities who are the ones I mean. And Allah knows best.

The Shaykh: The professor asked.
