The questioner : The questioner says in the last of his questions: Is it permissible to pray over one who died without praying, and what is the meaning of the hadith Sunan ad-Daraqutni 6:51 Are they the ones who pray facing the qiblah, or is this hadith general for all Muslims who are monotheists?
The Shaykh : One who dies while not praying is not to be prayed over, nor is it permissible to supplicate for him with mercy, nor is he to be washed or shrouded. Rather, he is to be taken outside the town and a pit is dug for him in which he is placed, because he is an apostate from the religion of Islam. We have explained in previous sessions the evidence for the disbelief of the one who abandons prayer from the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), the statements of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and the correct reasoning. We have also explained that what opposes this does not actually constitute an opposition, because it is either a general text specified by the evidence of the disbelief of the one who abandons prayer, or it is weak, or it is in a specific situation. The important point is that the stronger position, indicated by the texts of the Book and the Sunnah and the statements of the Companions, is that the one who abandons prayer is a disbeliever with a disbelief that takes him out of the religion, and it is not permissible to pray over anyone who is a disbeliever with a disbelief that takes him out of the religion.
Likewise, it is not permissible for us to supplicate for him with mercy or forgiveness, due to the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He)[At-Tawbah 9:113] meaning that this is impossible. Then Allah the Exalted answered regarding the seeking of forgiveness by Ibrahim for his father, saying [At-Tawbah 9:114] . Yes.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire.
And the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated himself from him. Indeed was Abraham compassionate and patient.
