Do I commit a sin if I hear the mention of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and do not send blessings upon him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This questioner, R.M.K. al-'Asiri, has a set of questions. In the first question, he asks: Do I commit a sin if I hear the mention of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and do not send blessings upon him?

The Shaykh : Scholars have differed on this issue. Some scholars say that it is obligatory for one who hears the mention of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to send blessings upon him, based on the famous hadith that Jibril came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and said to him: "May the nose of the man be ground down who is mentioned in his presence and he does not send blessings upon you." He said: "Ameen." Then he said:
Ameen ءامين
This indicates that sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory for one in whose presence the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is mentioned.

The questioner : O Allah, send blessings and peace upon him.

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that the one in whose presence the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is mentioned and who does not send blessings upon him has certainly deprived himself of much good and exposed himself to this punishment. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
