Is it sufficient for one who hears the mention of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to say (peace be upon him)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it sufficient for us to say (peace be upon him) when we mention the name of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), or is it necessary to say (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : It is necessary to send blessings upon him.

The questioner : I mean, (peace and blessings be upon him) or (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : Better.

The questioner : Now, is there a difference between sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the other prophets?

The Shaykh : Of course, there is a complete difference. We are commanded to do it for him, and it is recommended for the others.

The questioner : I mean the wording.

The Shaykh : No, we do not have a specific wording.
Al-Halabi : Their saying (peace be upon him) and (peace and blessings be upon him), there is no basis for distinguishing between them. The distinction is between the prophets in general and the Prophet specifically.

The Shaykh : What do they say for the prophets in general?

The questioner : Only (peace be upon him).

The Shaykh : Yes.

Another questioner : I think the distinction is by the verse, O our Shaykh:
O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him يا أيها الذين آمنوا صلوا عليه
[Al-Ahzab 33:56]

The questioner : I mean, if he says Isa, he says such and such, it is not necessary for him to say (peace and blessings be upon him), unlike Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : No, that is not the question.
