There is a hadith in the Sahih of Ibn Majah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (used to sprinkle water when he finished his ablution and say: “Indeed, urine descends”)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It seems to be a hadith I read in the Sahih of Ibn Majah that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), after he finished his ablution, used to sprinkle water, and the end of the hadith is that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says, “Indeed, urine descends,” (peace and blessings be upon him).

The Shaykh : First, does your question have any connection to the question?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : You are saying after the ablution?

The questioner : Yes, after the ablution, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sprinkle water because urine descends, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded sprinkling water.

The Shaykh : Why?

The questioner : Because it is in the text.

The Shaykh : ... the text, but what is the jurisprudence of the text? Why?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : May Allah forgive you, and would the removal of impurity occur after a person has performed ablution? This is in the category of cutting off the root of waswas (whispers of doubt). This is called *intidhadh* (sprinkling), and *intidhadh* is a recommended practice to cut off the root of waswas, so that a person does not say, “Perhaps something came out after I relieved myself; perhaps a drop of urine came out of me.” Then Satan comes and whispers to this person who has relieved himself, “Did you not feel the wetness?” So he cuts off Satan’s whisper by coming with the Sunnah, which is to sprinkle his garment after he finishes *istibra’* (ensuring no discharge remains) or *istinja’* (cleaning oneself after relieving oneself). If the whisper comes to him, he answers it by saying, “What I feel is only from my sprinkling of water, not from something coming out of me without my awareness.” This is not for the removal of impurity, but to cut off the root of waswas.

The questioner : ... If it were to cut off the root of waswas, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not have said, meaning
Indeed, urine descends فإن البول ينزل
This hadith ... I read it from the hadith of sprinkling, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or I heard of it, so that I may be truthful, if Allah wills, that it seems as if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after he finished relieving himself (peace and blessings be upon him), used to sprinkle water. The second hadith confirms it, he said
Indeed, urine descends فإن البول ينزل
So what is his intention?

The Shaykh : In any case, I do not recall this addition “Indeed, urine descends”, and the responsibility is on the narrator. You are narrating, and I am answering you. I do not know if any of our brothers among the students of knowledge remembers that? Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, no, no, it remains here in a narration; do we need to know if the chain of narration is valid or not? In any case, I am answering you now
Indeed, urine descends فإن البول ينزل
I do not memorize this addition. If we assume its validity, it does not mean it invalidates the interpretation I explained to you just now, because the intention is
Indeed, urine descends فإن البول ينزل
that is, if urine descends, if a person has waswas, the Lawgiver wants this person not to have waswas, so he sprinkles on his garment, even if he feels something descending. The Lawgiver does not want this Muslim to be concerned with this, and he cuts off the root of concern with this sprinkling, which is an explanation for the moisture he may feel. Thus, he cuts off the root of waswas with that. With that, I want our brothers, when we return to Oman, if Allah wills, to remind us to review this hadith and whether it contains
Indeed, urine descends فإن البول ينزل
I am in the state of not knowing this. What is your opinion ... or what? Ah.
Another questioner: ...

The Shaykh : None of our brothers, nor our strong students, mean to mention it like their so-called Shaykh; they do not mention this addition.

The questioner : I said that he sprinkles his garment just now.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Is it in the text that he sprinkles his private parts? Is the intention here his private parts here based on proximity, meaning?

The Shaykh : Of course, and it is so, because the sprinkling of the private parts, the private parts are originally wet, and he has ensured no discharge remains. Please, but the intention is not based on proximity. Yes.

The questioner : The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says
