Some mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say takbir and then prostrate, citing this as evidence for the prescription of takbir for prostration of recitation?

The questioner: Shaykh, "Khaer al-Din al-Wanli".

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: In his book "Dala'il al-Khayrat".

Another questioner : ... .

The questioner: It says in the hadith that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would say takbir and then prostrate.

The Shaykh: Is its name "Dala'il al-Khayrat" or "Adl al-Khayrat"?

The questioner: "Dala'il al-Khayrat" or?

The Shaykh: "Adl al-Khayrat".

The questioner: "Adl al-Khayrat"?

The Shaykh: "Dala'il al-Khayrat" follows the Sufis.

The questioner: "Adl al-Khayrat"...

The Shaykh: I think the one who named it "Adl al-Khayrat".

The Shaykh: Yes, what hadith did he bring?

The questioner: He brought the hadith that (peace and blessings be upon him) would say takbir and then prostrate.

The Shaykh : In the prayer?

The questioner : ...in the prayer.

The Shaykh: I think you are mistaken, it is not in the prayer.

The questioner: ... meaning ... As for the book, it is before us - if Allah wills - we will review it and see.

The Shaykh : Ah, good.
In any case, this hadith is weak and not authentic. I told you about it once before. This is from the narration of 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar al-'Umrī, who is weak, unlike his brother 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Umar al-'Umrī, who is trustworthy. Both of them narrated the hadith. Both of them say: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would, when he recited a verse of prostration, prostrate." The first one, whose name is 'Abd Allah al-Mukabbir, says: He said takbir and prostrated.

The questioner: If we were to say, Shaykh: Since the hadith is weak, it means we can smell that there is takbir, unlike what you deny, that there is no takbir at all.

The Shaykh : ... .

The questioner: Well, Shaykh, he says that your Shaykh weakened many hadiths and then went back and reviewed them and authenticated them.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner: So here, these are hadiths where he did not take a position.

The Shaykh: Authenticate for us a hadith like this one, authenticate it for us so that we may reconsider.

The questioner: They say: The Shaykh weakened it, and others authenticated it.

The Shaykh: ... for this man: This hadith was weakened by the Shaykh, so they asked him to authenticate it.

Those present : [Everyone laughs!]

Another questioner : So...

Another questioner: Well, Professor, there are hadiths where I think a young man was reciting in front of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) from one of the surahs that contain a prostration, so he passed by it and did not prostrate, and they asked him why he did not prostrate? He said:
If he had prostrated, we would have prostrated لو سجد لَسجدنا
; so he did not give a specific manner for the prostration; whether it has a specific background for the prostration, he did not give... this point, it is not considered that there is no specification for a specific manner of prostration?

The Shaykh: A wrong question, does it not indicate that there is no specific manner for the prostration?

Another questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: It is said: If he had prostrated, and your narration says he did not prostrate.

Another questioner: Yes, there is not...

The Shaykh: How do you want to take a manner from nothing? Rather, what is taken from this hadith, if it is authentic, is that prostration is not obligatory; because that one who recited did not prostrate; correct? So his not prostrating and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) approval of him indicated that prostration of recitation is not obligatory.

Another questioner: Yes.

The questioner: If it were obligatory...
