Is it permissible to take women directly to 'Arafah without passing through and staying overnight in Mina on the night of the ninth, in order to avoid the hardship of that day?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. As for what follows, this is one of the tapes from the *Al-Huda wa al-Nur* series of scholarly lessons and legal rulings by our Shaykh, Muhammad Nasir al-Din al-Albani (may Allah preserve him). We ask Allah to benefit everyone with it. And now, with tape number one hundred and sixty-five.

The questioner : Shaykh, is it permissible to go to 'Arafah in a single trip to remove the difficulty? Because about a million people or more set out for Mina, then 'Arafah, and Muzdalifah, and there is congestion, and the roads are narrow and suffocating on the eighth day of Hajj when going to Mina. I mean, the police themselves stop and prevent people from staying overnight in Mina, or rather, on the Day of Tarwiyah, they prevent people from remaining in Mina except for a very few. So, is it permissible to follow them by going directly to 'Arafah? They would stay overnight in 'Arafah, of course.

The Shaykh : You, Ghazi, say "to remove the difficulty." Remove the difficulty from whom?

The questioner : For the pilgrims in general.

The Shaykh : And are you one of them?

The questioner : The group with me is among them, or rather, I am not able to go.

The Shaykh : Ah, Ghazi, what do I have to do with the group? I am afraid you will say the group that is not with you. (He laughs)The Shaykh : May Allah have mercy on him.

The questioner : As for me, there is no difficulty.

The Shaykh : Okay, so the difficulty is for whom? And here comes your second question.

The questioner : I mean, for the family and the women.

The Shaykh : Okay, what is the difference between you and your wife in this matter?

Another questioner : I have my mother-in-law.
Laughter. The Shaykh : (May Allah have mercy on him) and the students.

The questioner : She has a diabetic illness with her.
Al-Halabi : There is no harm, may Allah purify her, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you. This is a sequence that is not logical. You started the question regarding removing the difficulty. Removing the difficulty is for the sick person or for the healthy one? Your question, as I understood it, was about the healthy one. And therefore, based on this correct understanding, which you finally conceded, I told you: this difficulty is removed from whom? From you? You said no. From whom? You said: from the group with you. And then the sequence of the topic went to the family, no, and then to his mother-in-law.
(He laughs)The Shaykh : (May Allah have mercy on him) and then, by Allah, she has the diabetic illness.

The questioner : In order to benefit, Shaykh, if you want to know about Ghazi, look at his mother-in-law immediately.

Another questioner : All right, there is no difficulty.

Another questioner : And it is said to him: Is this your first time performing Hajj?

The questioner : As for me, no, but as for my group.

Another questioner : But I do not think the police prevent anyone from staying overnight in Mina on the night of 'Arafah.

The questioner : Nor in Muzdalifah, I do not know.

The Shaykh : By Allah, I have not seen it. I mean, in our time, we used to see Mina empty. I mean, the pilgrims, driven by a personal pre-Islamic instinct, would go and not stay overnight, not because of the pressure of the guards or the police.

The questioner : All of Mina was empty.

The Shaykh : Empty, I say that. My intention in following up with you in questioning, as I do with others, is to alert and guide how the question should be. A question should take a logical sequence. It becomes clear that the first question did not need to be raised, because it was not the intended one. And it becomes clear at the end that the intended thing is far from the previous question. Then, this clarification is caused by one of two things: either turning and twisting so that one does not admit his mistake, or it is an oversight from him. And the best of them is bitter. (He laughs)The questioner : Even to the point where he admits his mistake or his negligence in it, and the sweetest of them is bitter - he laughsThe Shaykh : The honorable one, (may Allah have mercy on him).
