What is the ruling on the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the bathroom?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Regarding the bathrooms of these days, what is the ruling on performing wudu or taking a bath, and the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in them?

The Shaykh : What is the issue with the restroom?

The questioner : I mean the bathroom, the toilet, I mean.

The Shaykh : What is the problem? I don't understand.

The questioner : Because the remembrance of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is forbidden in restrooms.

The Shaykh : Do you mean the bathrooms on the floor?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : I mean, for example, a small room two meters by two meters, with a toilet in one corner and a sink on the other side where one performs wudu.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : There is absolutely no harm in that; because the problem is only that one remembers Allah (Mighty and Majestic) while sitting to relieve himself, and that is what is prohibited; so when he is done with that, he cleans himself and ensures his purity, and stands up to the sink, and he must say the name of Allah at that time, and there is nothing wrong with this, because this place is not the toilet, this is a bathroom, the toilet is in a corner of this place, so if he sits there to relieve himself, then during this sitting it is forbidden for him to remember Allah (Mighty and Majestic), otherwise, before that, he must say the name of Allah before taking off his clothes, and he must seek refuge in Allah; so if he sits to relieve himself, it is forbidden for him to remember Allah (Mighty and Majestic); when he is done with that, what does he say? "Forgive me," when he is done with this saying and moves a step to another part of the bathroom, he remembers Allah and does whatever he wishes of the remembrances; is that clear?

The questioner: Yes.
