The questioner : It is well known about your eminence, our master,The Shaykh : that the Companions were the most truthful of people and the most precise of people in narrating from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that one of them would not speak out of fear of falling into something of forgetfulness... ?

The Shaykh : Correct.

The questioner : So the narration reached us on the tongue of the Companion with precision: he told us what was and what is to be. The Companions could say, "He told us the keys of things," or "He told us their summaries," or "He told us their great matters." But his saying (may Allah be pleased with him), "what was and what is to be," means the paths. This is one point. The second point is that the Companion says, "There was no expedition about which we did not know, and we knew about its leader." An expedition is known to you as a small group. As for your saying that if Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) reveals His knowledge to someone, that person becomes a partner with Him, this is not said for one reason: as long as we have entrusted the matter to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and said, "He revealed it to him," he has become a created being. This is one point. The second point, and it is known to you, is that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has carved out for him from His beautiful names what is present in the Noble Qur'an. He said:
There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful. لقد جاءكم رسول من أنفسكم عزيز عليه ما عنتم حريص عليكم بالمؤمنين رؤوف رحيم
[At-Tawbah 9:128]
And this is among the beautiful names. But we say the following: He said regarding our master Isaac,
with a knowledgeable boy بغلام عليم
and this is also among the beautiful names. However, if knowledge is attributed to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), it is eternal, and no one shares in it. If it comes from other than Allah (Mighty and Majestic), it is created with respect to the known matter for the Prophet (peace be upon him). So if He revealed to him the unseen, and the Companion explicitly stated that He revealed to him what was and what is to be, then it is created knowledge with respect to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a created being. It does not mean partnership in any way, nor does it mean that the compassion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the very divine compassion. Nor is the prophetic mercy the very divine mercy; because the primordial mercy is eternal, and the mercy of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is created and exists in him. Likewise, the knowledge of our master Isaac is created knowledge, while the knowledge of the Truth (Exalted and Majestic is He) is eternal. So when the Imam al-Busiri has a point when he said, "And from Your knowledge are the Tablet and the Pen," it means that this hadith passed by him, and the man was not ignorant or an associate of partners with Allah, but he was in a century with scholars and people of the oneness of Allah who knew the chaff from the grain. If he had been an associate of partners with Allah, they would have refuted him. Then it is known that...
