What is the cure for lying, showing off, resentment, envy, and arrogance if a person is afflicted with them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the cure for lying, showing off, resentment, envy, and arrogance if a person is afflicted with them?

The Shaykh : The cure for that is easy: one should abandon lying, abandon resentment and hatred toward Muslims, and abandon showing off, devoting oneself to sincerity for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in one's worship. Although this may be difficult for one who has made it a habit, if a person seeks help from Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and resolves and determines, the matter becomes easy for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah المؤمن القوي خير وأحب إلى الله من المؤمن الضعيف، وفي كل خير، احرص على ما ينفعك واستعن بالله
Sahih Muslim 2664
He commanded striving and seeking help, because striving alone is not sufficient, and seeking help without striving is of no benefit, for seeking help without striving is not true seeking of help, since one who seeks help from Allah must take the means and seek help from the Lord (Mighty and Majestic).
cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart احرص على ما ينفعك واستعن بالله ولا تعجز
Sahih Muslim 2664
meaning do not be lazy
and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan. وإن أصابك شيء فلا تقل لو أني فعلت كذا لكان كذا فإن لو تفتح عمل الشيطان
Sahih Muslim 2664
So a person should strive to avoid vile character traits.
And what helps in that is for a person to know the ill omen and bad outcome in lying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire, and a man will not cease to lie and deliberately seek lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar إياكم والكذب، فإن الكذب يهدي إلى الفجور، وإن الفجور يهدي إلى النار، ولا يزال الرجل يكذب ويتحرّى الكذب حتى يُكتب عند الله كذاباً
Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you. The questioner is Umm Mus'ab from Riyadh.
