The Shaykh : Some of the later scholars mentioned in their interpretation of the statement of Allah the Exalted:
And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًا يَلْوُونَ أَلْسِنَتَهُمْ بِالْكِتَابِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ
[Ali 'Imran 3:78]
Some of the later scholars stated that this includes a person reciting something other than the Qur'an in the manner of reciting the Qur'an, such as reading the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as one reads the Qur'an, or reading the words of the scholars as one reads the Qur'an. Based on this, it is not permissible for a person to chant words other than the Qur'an in the manner in which the Qur'an is recited, especially among the common people who do not distinguish between the Qur'an and other things except by the melody and the recitation.
