The Shaykh Al-Albani’s clarification that the issue of the soul is not comprehensible by reason, regarding the proof that the Nile and the Euphrates spring from Paradise.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It is not comprehensible by reason, and by Allah, reason does not grasp it... Now, have you grasped with your reason the soul that is in your body? You have not grasped it, but do you deny it?

The questioner : No, I seek refuge in Allah. How?

The Shaykh : Well, is this within the material realm? Do you think that the Nile and the Euphrates springing from Paradise is further from reason than the soul in your body, which you do not know? Which is further from reason?

The questioner : ...No, the second one, the Nile and the Euphrates... I know with certainty that every person, regardless of his Islam initially, any person understands that when this human being departs from life, he becomes dead. A little while ago he was alive. Something left him that they did not grasp, and a person does not know... something unseen that a person does not know.

The Shaykh : This is it... May Allah guide you. How did you make that further from this? Allahu Akbar. How did you acknowledge the soul, my brother, when you do not touch it and do not witness it at all? And so you resorted to saying, to satisfy your materialistic reason, that there must have been something. Yes, even the disbelievers believe in this creed...

The questioner : And therefore...

The Shaykh : Be patient... Why did you believe in the soul with faith
and they greet with a greeting ويسلموا تسليما
.

The questioner : I believe in the soul because Allah said so...

The Shaykh : And because the Messenger of Allah said so, and we do not distinguish between the word of Allah and His Messenger.

Another questioner : You discovered the knowledge... before discovering it.

The Shaykh : No, not like that, it is completely unknown!

Another questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : It was impossible by reason!...

Another questioner : ...such that the impossible became possible.

The Shaykh : Here, some of our brothers, may Allah reward them with good, brought us the book. I have extracted the hadith in three narrations regarding Sijhan, Jayhan, the Euphrates, and the Nile from the rivers of Paradise...
