Discussion on division and its severity.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Because if we do not enjoin good and forbid evil, we will inevitably divide, for the one who commits evil walks with his group and the one who does good walks with his group; this is division. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
(104) And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful. (105) And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment. ولتكن منكم أمة يدعون إلى الخير ويأمرون بالمعروف وينهون عن المنكر وأولئك هم المفلحون ولا تكونوا كالذين تفرقوا
[Ali 'Imran 3:104-105]
And do not be like those who divided ولا تكون كالذين تفرقوا
This indicates that abandoning the call to Allah and abandoning the enjoining of good and forbidding of evil is a cause for what? For division, inevitably. And when the Muslim community divides, it disputes, and when it disputes, it fails, its spirit departs, and it becomes prey to its enemies. For this reason, it is said that among the policies of the disbelievers toward the Muslims is that they adopt a principle called "divide and rule", meaning make the people divide so that you may be the master. This is the reality: if the Muslims divide, they dispute, they fail, their spirit departs, and they become prey to their enemies, so the enemy sits and watches the disputes and division of the Muslims, and their power is among them while their enemy is at ease. Therefore, we say that among the establishment of the religion is that we enjoin good and forbid evil.
