Explaining the harms of division and mentioning its cure

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Therefore, when the Ummah divided, humiliation befell it and its honor departed; weakness befell it and its strength departed. The enemies pounced upon it, and the nations rushed against it just as diners rush upon a meal. And, unfortunately, the Islamic Ummah has become a torn-apart community, with some of its members misleading others and some stabbing at others. There is no doubt that this is contrary to what Allah commanded, which is unity, and it falls into what Allah forbade, which is division. It is obligatory for us all to agree in the religion of Allah and not to divide. If someone asks, "What is the cure for this division?" we say: its cure is the path of wisdom that Allah commanded. Allah the Exalted said:
And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result. فإن تنازعتم في شيء فردّوه إلى الله والرسول إن كنتم تؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر ذلك خير وأحسن تأويلا
[An-Nisa 4:59]
It is obligatory for us to gather and look at what we have differed in, and then return to the Book and the Sunnah in that matter, to the Qur'an and to the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
