Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We came to Makkah to perform 'Umrah and to stay for these ten days in Makkah, and we want to increase our tawaf in the House, and there are those who say that in your action there is crowding out of the 'umrah performers, and that you should occupy yourselves with other things such as reciting the Qur'an and praying, and the like. So what do you advise us?

The Shaykh : What we advise is that in the seasons, it is not befitting for a person to increase in tawaf, and the best example for us in that is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in his Hajj did not perform tawaf except the tawaf of the ritual only: he performed the tawaf of arrival, he performed the tawaf of ifadah, and he performed the tawaf of farewell. Even though, had he willed, he could have performed tawaf every day, but he did not perform tawaf, to make his Ummah know that the more deserving are more deserving. So those performing tawaf who came for the ritual are more deserving than those performing tawaf who are doing it voluntarily. Therefore, it is befitting for a person, if he sees the area around the Ka'bah crowded, not to push through the people, but to occupy himself with prayer and recitation, for that is better for him. For the Shari'ah is not by emotion, as we said previously. The Shari'ah is by what? By emotion and reason based on the Book and the Sunnah. And if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform tawaf despite it being easy for him, then it is known that in the days of the seasons, it is not befitting for you to push through the people who came to perform the ritual. And if you find space, then perform tawaf, for tawaf is undoubtedly among the best of deeds.
