The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 21294 )
Q5: On the evening of the 12th, before the dawn of the 13th, and before sunset, we left Mina in a hurry. The tour operator had rented a banquet hall in al-Sharai' number (2), which we believe is outside the boundaries of the Haram . The pilgrims stayed there, and after the Fajr prayer, they were transported by bus to the Haram to perform the Farewell Tawaf, and the Tawaf of Ziyarah for some of them. Some students of knowledge told them that they must offer a sacrificial animal (dam) for leaving the boundaries of the Haram without performing the Tawaf of Ziyarah or the Farewell Tawaf. Is it obligatory for one who leaves the boundaries of the Haram without performing the Tawaf
of Ziyarah, knowing this, to offer a sacrificial animal, or is no sacrificial animal required? As it appears from the wording of the jurists, if one goes to his hometown and has not performed the Farewell Tawaf, he returns to Makkah , even if his hometown is in Damascus or Basra, and they do not consider a sacrificial animal required merely for leaving the Tawaf? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you. May Allah reward you.
A5: The Farewell Tawaf is performed when departing from Makkah after completing Hajj. There is no harm in going to a place close to Makkah before it, because he did not intend to depart and travel. However, if he goes to a place far from Makkah , he must offer a sacrificial animal because he departed before the Farewell Tawaf, and returning to perform the Tawaf does not suffice. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
