Shortcomings.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And as for shortcomings, there is the man who has no deficiency in his understanding or ability regarding knowledge, but he is shortcoming and lazy. He wants knowledge to come to him, but he does not want to seek knowledge from himself. This is found frequently among some students of knowledge; you find him wanting knowledge to come to him, but he must know that knowledge does not come to people; rather, people seek it. It has been said: "Give knowledge all of yourself, and it will give you some of itself; give it some of yourself, and it will destroy you entirely". Therefore, perseverance is necessary, and eagerness is necessary, and toil is necessary. We say that the one who does not do these things is shortcoming.
