The ruling on the permissibility of repeating 'Umrah in a single journey.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for saying, "By Allah, an 'Umrah in Ramadan is equal to a Hajj," and then saying, "So every day, do an 'Umrah in Ramadan; how many times will you perform Hajj? Thirty times? Every day you perform an 'Umrah in order to perform Hajj thirty times?" Who said this? Who said this? For this reason, Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about repeating 'Umrah, and he said: "One should not perform 'Umrah until his head is shaved", meaning until it turns black when he shaves it and the hair grows back; then he may perform 'Umrah. This is because the one performing 'Umrah will either shorten or shave his hair, and if there is no hair, when will he shorten it and when will he shave it? The Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned: "It is disliked to perform 'Umrah frequently and repeat it, according to the consensus of the Salaf". He mentioned this in his *Fatawa*. As for what people do today, it is regrettable; it is regrettable. We performed 'Umrah how many times? Thirty times in the month of Ramadan, if Allah wills. How many Hajj did we perform? How many Hajj did we perform? Thirty Hajj? Where are the righteous Salaf regarding this? Bring me a single text indicating that the righteous Salaf repeated 'Umrah in Ramadan, the Companions and those who followed them in excellence. And as I told you just now, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who was undoubtedly the most eager of people for good—first because he was the most worshipful of people toward Allah, and second because he legislates, so he must clarify the Shari'ah by his saying, his doing, or his approval—yet we did not see him repeat 'Umrah in Ramadan. Rather, we did not see him leave Mecca to come back for an 'Umrah, even though it was easy for them to do so. In fact, I tell you that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), when she came to Mecca with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for the Farewell Pilgrimage, was in the state of tamattu', having entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah.
And during her menstruation, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her while she was crying, and he said, "Perhaps you are menstruating?" She said, "Yes." He said, "This is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam." Then he ordered her to enter the state of ihram for Hajj so that she would be a qarinah, and he said to her, "Do what the pilgrim does, except do not circumambulate the House, and in another wording, except do not circumambulate the House and do not walk between al-Safa and al-Marwah, until you become pure, or he said, until you take a bath."
Then, when she finished the Hajj, she insisted upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to allow her to perform 'Umrah, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, the people are leaving with 'Umrah and Hajj, while I am leaving with only Hajj." When she insisted upon him, he allowed her and ordered her brother, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, to take her out to al-Tan'im, which is the closest part of the non-sacred area to Mecca. He took her out at night, and she entered the state of ihram for 'Umrah and performed it. Her brother, Abu Bakr, was with her, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order him to perform 'Umrah with her, even though he had gone out and it was easy for him to perform 'Umrah, yet he did not perform it either. This indicates that the Salaf did not know of this 'Umrah where a person leaves Mecca to al-Tan'im to perform it. My brothers, I say and repeat again and again: It is obligatory that we worship Allah with knowledge, and that we do not worship Allah except in accordance with the Shari'ah, and that we look to guidance and do not worship Allah according to desire. If desire is not in accordance with the Shari'ah, then whoever follows it will fall in any case. I wanted to say this short statement because we see people performing 'Umrah frequently on the twenty-seventh night, indeed performing 'Umrah frequently on the twenty-seventh night, without having any proof or evidence from the Book and the Sunnah for this specific designation.
