Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A woman over fifty years old experienced a brownish discharge for about three weeks, followed by light bleeding for more than two weeks, and then heavy bleeding, which has now continued for more than two weeks, despite the fact that she was cleaned and treated in the hospital and is still receiving treatment. What is your opinion, O honorable Shaykh? Does she have to fast and pray? Are her fasting and prayer valid? Is it permissible for her to go to the mosque? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : The ruling for this woman is that she is a woman with irregular non-menstrual bleeding, based on the last heavy bleeding that continued with her. A woman with irregular non-menstrual bleeding reverts to her custom; she sits for the duration of what her custom used to be. If her custom was seven days from the beginning of the month, we tell her to sit for seven days of every month, then take a full ritual bath, pray, and fast. However, if the heavy bleeding is equal to her previous custom, meaning it stops and she becomes pure from it, then it is menstruation, whether it coincides with her previous custom, precedes it, or follows it. As for the yellowish discharge and the slight drops, these are nothing, due to the statement of Umm Atiyyah:
We used not to regard yellowish and brownish discharge as anything important. كنا لا نعد الصفرة والكدرة شيئا
Sunan an-Nasa'i 368Sahih (Darussalam)
Yes.
