The questioner : My wife experienced the symptoms of menstruation, such as pain and cramps, without any blood coming out, during the month of Ramadan. On the second day, she found yellow discharge with a little blood, and then the blood stopped. On the third day, the blood began to flow normally, as is her custom.
My question is: What is the ruling on her fasting for the two days in which she saw only yellow discharge with the slight, intermittent blood, given that this has never happened to her before?
The Shaykh : There is no doubt that menstruation is the blood that comes out of a woman. It is natural blood that Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam, coming out at known times, with known characteristics, and with known symptoms.
If these symptoms and characteristics are present, then it is the natural blood of menstruation, and its rulings apply to it.
If it is not so, then it is not menstruation. Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said:Sunan an-Nasa'i 368Sahih (Darussalam), and in the narration of Abu Dawud: Sunan an-Nasa'i 368Sahih (Darussalam) meaning something of menstruation.
So, this woman who mentioned that she was afflicted with the symptoms of menstruation, but the menstruation did not come out, and only yellow discharge came out, the apparent meaning of the hadith of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) is that this yellow discharge is not menstruation.
Accordingly, her fasting on these days is valid, because menstruation had not yet occurred.

We used not to regard yellowish and brownish discharge as anything important.
