The questioner : Is it permissible to make du'a' for the deceased after his death or in one of the gatherings? I hope you will inform me about this?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible to make du'a' for your Muslim brother after his death and during his life, whether you are alone or in one of the gatherings. Allah the Exalted praised the believers who came after the Muhajireen and the Ansar, who say:
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."
[Al-Hashr 59:10]
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased).
Sahih Muslim 1631
