Chapter on Charity on Behalf of the Deceased and Supplication for Them: Allah the Exalted said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The topic of our lesson today is charity on behalf of the deceased and supplication for them. The author said in *Riyad al-Salihin*: "Chapter on Charity on Behalf of the Deceased and Supplication for Them" Then he cited the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful." والذين جاؤوا من بعدهم يقولون ربنا اغفر لنا ولإخواننا الذين سبقونا بالإيمان ولا تجعل في قلوبنا غلًّا للذين آمنوا ربنا إنك رؤوف رحيم
[Al-Hashr 59:10]
"And those who came after them" means those who came after the two previous groups, namely the Muhajireen and the Ansar, who had settled in the land and in faith before them. This Ummah consists of three groups: the Muhajireen, the Ansar, and those who came after them. Allah has gathered these in two verses of the Qur'an, among which is His saying:
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him والسابقون الأولون من المهاجرين والأنصار والذين اتبعوهم بإحسان رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه
[At-Tawbah 9:100]
These are three groups. Likewise, in Surat al-Hashr:
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes للفقراء المهاجرين الذين أخرجوا من ديارهم
[Al-Hashr 59:8]
Then He said:
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them والذين تبؤوا الدار والإيمان من قبلهم
[Al-Hashr 59:9]
Then He said:
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith والذين جاؤوا من بعدهم يقولون ربنا اغفر لنا ولإخواننا الذين سبقونا بالإيمان
[Al-Hashr 59:10]
If you see a man who sends blessings upon the Companions, seeks forgiveness for them, and loves them, know that he is of them, meaning he will be gathered with them. If you see a man who curses the Companions, does not send blessings upon them, and does not seek forgiveness for them, then they are free of him and he is free of them, and he has no share in this Ummah. This is because the Companions are the link between us and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), who conveyed the Shari'ah of Allah from the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the link between us and our Lord, who conveyed to us the words of our Lord. Therefore, if someone attacks the link between us and the Messenger of Allah, he is attacking the entire Shari'ah. The entire Shari'ah has no value if those who transmitted it to us were open sinners, wicked, or the like. This is especially true for Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), for no one curses them who has even the weight of a mustard seed of faith in his heart, ever. This is because Abu Bakr and 'Umar are the best of the followers of the messengers, absolutely. There is no one among the followers of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, or Muhammad who is better than Abu Bakr and 'Umar. So, whoever attacks them has nothing of faith in his heart, refuge with Allah. He is stripped of faith; we ask Allah for safety. Likewise, whoever curses the Companions and speaks ill of them is speaking ill of the religion of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. For this reason, he said:
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith والذين جاؤوا من بعدهم يقولون ربنا اغفر لنا ولإخواننا الذين سبقونا بالإيمان
[Al-Hashr 59:10]
