The Shaykh :
“And likewise, the Jahmi negated his Lord *** from being above the Throne, above the worlds,
out of fear of the confinement he imagines *** or that He be seen as localized in a place,
So he reduced it to non-existence, and its existence is not realized outside of minds.
Look, the Jahmi said: Allah is negated from being above the Throne. Why? Because if He were above the Throne, He would be limited by a limit, and thus He would be confined, or He would be localized in a place. This is also impossible in his view. Therefore, he says, “or that He be seen as localized in a place.”
“So he reduced Him to non-existence”. He said: He is not above the world, nor below it, nor to the right, nor to the left, nor connected, nor separated. Yes, nor distinct, nor adjacent. So what is He? Non-existence. This is non-existence. Therefore, he says:
“is not realized outside of minds”.
