Likewise, reliance upon Allah, turning back to Him, and piety *** Likewise, hope and the fear of the Most Merciful (The difference between reliance upon Allah and dependence on a person, and a discussion on turning back to Allah)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He says:
"Likewise, reliance upon Allah, turning back to Him, and piety"
Upon whom does one place reliance? Upon Allah, Mighty and Majestic. One places reliance upon Allah alone. Allah the Exalted said:
And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. ومن يتوكل على الله فهو حسبه
[At-Talaq 65:3]
This is different from depending on a servant in what he is capable of. Entrusting a servant with selling or buying is a form of dependence, but it is not like one's reliance upon Allah. A person relies on his agent, seeing that he is above him, that he is above him, and that his agent obeys his command. But he relies upon Allah, knowing that He is sufficient for him, that he is in need of his Lord, and that Allah the Exalted is above him. There is a difference between the two types of reliance. The reliance of the one who entrusts a matter to his agent is not like the reliance of a person on his Lord, because his reliance on his agent is reliance based on self-sufficiency, whereas his reliance on his Lord is reliance based on need, knowing that he is in need of Him and compelled to Him. Yet he depends on Him, Mighty and Majestic. For this reason, he depends on his Lord and performs the causes through which his desired outcome is realized. "Likewise, turning back to Him" To whom does one turn back? To Allah. One turns back to Allah alone. One never turns back to anyone other than Allah. Turning back is to Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He.
"Likewise, turning back to Him and piety"
Whom do we fear? Allah. But Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sometimes mentions piety as belonging to Him, sometimes as belonging to the punishment, sometimes as belonging to the abode of punishment, and sometimes as belonging to the time of punishment.
