Explaining that Abu Bakr was the strongest of the Companions in heart and the most steadfast, and mentioning Abu Bakr's steadfastness in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and the benefits and events that occurred therein

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in this great position that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) held is proof that Abu Bakr was the strongest of the Companions in heart and the most composed in temperament, for he (may Allah be pleased with him) in great calamities and in great, major situations would be the most steadfast of the Companions. We give examples of this; do you know what happened in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah regarding the harsh conditions imposed on the Muslims that were easy for the disbelievers? The cause of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out from al-Madinah with about a thousand and four hundred men, with them sacrificial animals of camels, cows, and others, intending to perform 'Umrah, not intending to fight. But when he reached the boundaries of the Haram at Hudaybiyyah, and Hudaybiyyah is a place part of which is from the permitted area and part of which is from the Haram, when he reached that, his she-camel knelt down and refused to head toward Makkah. So the Companions said: "Al-Qaswa has become stubborn."
"Khala'at al-Qaswa," meaning it became stubborn and knelt down, and al-Qaswa was the name of his she-camel (peace and blessings be upon him).
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, al-Qaswa has not become stubborn, and that is not her habit."
(peace and blessings be upon him), even the animals were defended by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Qaswa has not become stubborn, and that is not her habit.
It is not her habit to become stubborn and kneel down.
but He Who restrained the elephant has restrained her
Sunan Abi Dawud 2765Sahih (Al-Albani)
Who is it? Who held back the elephant, my brothers?
The student: Allah

The Shaykh : Allah (Mighty and Majestic) held it back, the one who held back the elephant. The elephant that Abrahah brought in order to demolish the Sacred Ka'bah, may Allah the Exalted increase it in honor and protect it from all evil. But the elephant refused, refused to head toward Makkah. So whenever they directed it toward Yemen, it would run and speed up, and whenever they directed it toward Makkah, it would kneel down, refusing to enter Makkah or head toward Makkah. Similarly, the she-camel of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) knew from her kneeling that there was something behind the matter. Then he said:
By Him in Whose hand my soul is, they will not ask any me good thing by which they honor which God has made sacred without my giving them it.
Sunan Abi Dawud 2765Sahih (Al-Albani)
"O Allah, send blessings and peace upon him." He did not want to take revenge for himself. If he had willed to enter Makkah with a thousand and four hundred men, he would have entered. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) had such fear of Allah that it prevented him from doing so.
The negotiation took place between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Quraysh. Listen. A messenger from Quraysh came to write the document, and he said: "Write: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy."
Who is the one speaking, my brother? Yes, that is right.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Well done, rest. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the scribe:
Write: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. The representative of Quraysh said: No, do not write "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy." We do not know al-Rahman.
And Allah the Exalted said:
And they disbelieve in al-Rahman.
They refused.
Write in your name, O Allah. He said: Write in your name, O Allah.
This is one concession from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), because he had sworn that he would not be asked for a matter by which they would exalt the sanctities of Allah except that he would answer them. Then he said:
This is what Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, has concluded. He said: Do not write "Messenger of Allah." If we had known you were the Messenger of Allah, we would not have fought you or prevented you.
What is to be written?
He said: Write Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah.
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 37:301
A man from Quraysh, as for us, we will accept his description as a Messenger. This is a proof against us. This cannot be. Who can say this? The representative of Quraysh.
He said: Do not write "Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah." This is what Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah has concluded.
Sunan ad-Darimi 17:68

And I stop at this point to point out what some writers do now. If they want to say "The Messenger of Allah said," they say: "Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah said." And there is no doubt that he is Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah. But which is better: that we attribute him to his father like other people, or that we attribute him to the worship of Allah and his message? Answer, my group. The second, without a doubt. And for this reason, we say instead of "Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah said," we say "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said," or "Muhammad, the Servant of Allah and His Messenger, said." These matters, my brothers, it is obligatory for students of knowledge to pay attention to them, because some people may insert them without realizing, without realizing their meaning or their implication.
Write Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah. He said: Write.
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 37:303

Then he mentioned the conditions.
That war be suspended between them for ten years, and that they not enter Mecca this year, meaning the Prophet and his Companions.
They were in a state of ihram with them the sacrificial animals. He was saying "Labbaik, for 'Umrah," and they were prevented from the House. I do not know what your feelings are when someone prevents you from the House after entering ihram. What are your feelings? Yes, a very great feeling, meaning it is heavy on the soul.
And despite this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) agreed to this condition: that he return to Madinah and come next year, and also enter Mecca without drawn swords, with the swords in their sheaths, and not stay in Mecca for more than three days, and he agreed to this.
Even though there was a great concession, but for the sake of exalting the sanctities of Allah.
Among the conditions: if a Muslim from Quraysh comes to the Muslims, it is obligatory for the Muslims to return him, but if a Muslim goes to Quraysh, it is not obligatory to return him.
Is this condition difficult or easy? Very difficult, meaning there is no equality, there is no equality. It was supposed that whoever came from the polytheists to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not be sent back, just as whoever came from the Muslims to Quraysh would not be sent back, or everyone would be sent back. But Quraysh, in their arrogance and their high status, refused except that whoever came from the Muslims to Quraysh would not be sent back, and whoever came from Quraysh to the Muslims would be sent back. And he agreed to this. These conditions were harsh.
'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) approached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this and said: O Messenger of Allah, are we not upon the truth and our opponents upon falsehood? He said: Yes. He said: Why did we accept humiliation in our religion? Until the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: I am the Messenger of Allah, and I am not disobedient to Him, and He is my supporter. When 'Umar despaired of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) changing his mind, he went to Abu Bakr to seek his support, and Abu Bakr's (may Allah be pleased with him) answer was exactly like the answer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), word for word.
And this indicates that Abu Bakr was stronger than 'Umar and the other Companions in the straitened position, and that in the straitened position he is guided to the truth more than 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) is guided to it. This is one instance in which Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood firm like the mountains.
