The meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth is signs for a people who fear Him," and a discussion on reflecting upon the Noble Qur'an and remembering.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
and [in] what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a people who fear Allah وما خلق الله في السماوات والأرض لآيات قوم يتقون
[Yunus 10:6]
. But this, my brothers, requires thought. We read the Qur'an, but we do not think about its meaning. And so we are deprived of much of the signs of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) because we do not think, whereas the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them)—do you know how they dealt with the Qur'an? They did not move past ten verses until they had learned them and the knowledge and practice contained therein. They said:
We learned the Qur'an, the knowledge, and the practice all together فتعلمنا القرآن والعلم والعمل جميعا
. Most of us today read the Qur'an only for the reward, for seeking blessing from it. There is no doubt that this is a good intention. But something else must be added to it, which is reflection, then taking a lesson and remembering. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك ليدبروا آياته وليتذكر أولوا الألباب
[Sad 38:29]
. It is necessary to reflect, it is necessary to take a lesson and remember, so that we may benefit.
