Exhortation to reflect upon the Noble Qur'an and the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (A Book We have revealed to you, full of blessing, so that they may reflect upon its verses and that people of understanding may be reminded).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And I pray and submit to our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the Pious, and to his family and his Companions, and to those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows, O my brothers in the Mosque of the Two Imams in the city of Riyadh. This is the third night that Allah the Exalted has granted us, in which we have delivered lessons concerning Hajj, given the appropriateness of the time.
We begin, as is customary, by speaking of what Allah Mighty and Majestic has made easy for us, namely what we have heard, or rather what I recited and you heard, from the Book of Allah Mighty and Majestic. For this Noble, Great, Glorious, and Generous Book was revealed only to draw near to Allah the Exalted through its recitation, to reflect upon its meaning, and to act upon it.
Allah Mighty and Majestic said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك ليدبروا آياته وليتذكر أولو الألباب
[Sad 38:29]
. We must know the meanings of the Noble Qur'an, otherwise what is the benefit?
The one who reads the Qur'an and does not know its meaning is exactly like an illiterate person. And listen to the saying of Allah Mighty and Majestic:
And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking ومنهم أميون لا يعلمون الكتاب إلا أماني
[Al-Baqarah 2:78]
meaning except for mere recitation. So Allah described them as illiterate, and Allah Mighty and Majestic has spoken the truth.
We read in this night.
The student: Surat al-Nasr.

The Shaykh : Al-Nasr? No. That was yesterday or the day before yesterday, yes. What did we read? Let us see, the younger ones. The younger ones before, yes.
The student: Al-Takathur and Al-Asr.

The Shaykh : Well done, Surat al-Takathur and Al-Asr.
