What is the meaning of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever loves to be expanded in his provision and extended in his lifespan, let him maintain his family ties"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Now, if Allah wills, we will complete the questions. Yes.

The questioner : In the name of Allah, and praise be to Allah. The questioner says: Al-Bukhari narrated from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Anyone who wants to have his provision expanded and his term of life prolonged should maintain ties of kinship. من أحب أن يبسط له في رزقه وأن ينسأ له في أثره فليصل رحمه
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 56
. He asks: Does "extended in his lifespan" mean blessing in life and time, or is it an actual increase in lifespan? And if it is an actual increase, is it what is meant by the saying of the Exalted:
Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the Book. يمحو الله ما يشاء ويثبت وعنده أم الكتاب
[Ar-Ra'd 13:39]
?

The Shaykh : Yes, this hadith
He who likes that his sustenance should be expanded and his age may be lengthened من أحب أن يبسط له في رزقه وينسأ له في أثره
Sahih Muslim 2557b
means that his life is prolonged and he remains
let him maintain his family ties فليصل رحمه
. This is one of the hadiths that encourage maintaining family ties. And maintaining family ties is the cause of two important things: The first is expansion in provision, meaning the widening of sustenance. The second is the extension of the term of life. There is no problem with this. Just as provision is written and decreed, and yet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed that maintaining family ties is a cause for its increase. Likewise, the term of life is written and decreed. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) informed that maintaining family ties is a cause for its increase. There is no difference between this and that. All of it is written. But we know that if provision is wide, and Allah decrees it to be wide due to maintaining family ties, we know that the provision will be wide through maintaining family ties. And we know that if the term of life is extended through maintaining family ties, then this person will maintain his family ties, and his term of life will be extended. It is as if I said, for example: Whoever loves to have a child born to him, let him marry. A person is decreed to have children or not to have children. So he strives in marriage in order for a child to come to him. Likewise, he strives in maintaining family ties in order for his lifespan to increase or his wealth to increase. There is no difference and no problem. As for the one who says that the meaning of the increase or the prolongation is blessing, that is not correct. Rather, the meaning is increase. But this increase was originally written with Allah upon the cause, which is maintaining family ties. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
