Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and show kindness to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, and the near neighbor"

The Shaykh : And may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the Pious, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows, we have listened to the recitation of our Imam in the prayer of this night, the Maghrib prayer, in the saying of Allah the Exalted. Who among you remembers it?
The student : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan:

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him

واعبدوا الله ولا تشركوا به شيئاً

[An-Nisa 4:36]

The Shaykh : You have done well. Allah the Exalted said:

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful.

واعبدوا الله ولا تشركوا به شيئاً وبالوالدين إحساناً وبذي القربى واليتامى والمساكين والجار ذي القربى والجار الجنُب والصاحب بالجنب وابن السبيل وما ملكت أيمانكم إن الله لا يحب من كان مختالاً فخوراً
