Chapter on the virtue of being kind to slaves: Allah the Exalted said
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he mentioned the virtue of being kind to slaves and began this with the saying of Allah the Exalted: [An-Nisa 4:36] [An-Nisa 4:36] "Worship Allah" means obey Allah, for worshipping Allah is obeying Him by fulfilling His commands and avoiding His prohibitions. This is the purpose for which He created the servants. Allah the Exalted said: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:56] We did not create Allah to eat, drink, wear clothes, dwell, or enjoy ourselves; all of these are merely means. The ultimate goal is worship [Adh-Dhariyat 51:56] So whoever does not worship Allah, or worships others alongside Allah, or does not worship anyone, has wasted his religion and his worldly life, because he has wasted the purpose for which he was created. And His saying: [An-Nisa 4:36] is general; "anything" encompasses every partner associated with Him, because it is an indefinite noun in the context of prohibition, making it general. Do not associate anyone with the worship of Allah, not the Messenger, not Jibril, not a wali (close friend of Allah) among the awliya (close friends of Allah), not a truthful one, nor a martyr. Do not worship anyone but Allah alone; do not associate anything with Him. So whoever associates anything with Allah, if it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), Allah has said regarding him: [Al-Ma'idah 5:72] An example is going to a grave and prostrating to it, or calling out to it, saying, "O my master, help me; O my master, give me a child; give me a wife; give me wealth." This is major shirk that takes one out of the religion. Even if a person fasts, gives charity, prays, recites the Qur'an, and performs Hajj to the House while remaining upon this shirk, he will not enter Paradise. Paradise is forbidden to him, and his abode is the Fire, and there are no helpers for the wrongdoers, because he associated partners with Allah and so on. Allah the Mighty and Majestic did not mention the right of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even though the right of the Messenger is greater than the right of parents. It is obligatory for a person to love the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) more than he loves himself, more than he loves his child, and more than he loves his father; it is obligatory. The right of the Messenger is above the rights of all creation. The scholars said: "Because the right of the Messenger is part of the right of Allah" because the worship of Allah cannot be accepted except by following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So the right of the Messenger is included within the right of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. Therefore, whoever does not purify worship for Allah with sincerity and for the Messenger with following, has no worship. For this reason, the right of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was not mentioned, because it is included in the right of Allah. And His saying: includes the mother and the father meaning: be kind to parents with kindness. Kindness with wealth: you give them from your wealth if they are poor and in need, or if they are not poor, but you give them luxuries to win their affection. And among kindness is serving them. If your father sends you for something, go. He says, "Wait for so-and-so," so you wait. He says, "Bring me such-and-such," so you bring it to him and serve them with wealth, with your body, and with your status as well. If the son has status among people or with the state, and his father needs his status, then among kindness is serving him with his status, and likewise the mother. So kindness here includes everything that is considered kindness. The rest of the discussion on the verse and the hadiths following it will come, if Allah wills.
